Ophthalmologist

As a respected name within the area's healthcare community and the first female ophthalmologist in Upper Cumberland, Dr. Alissa Hudson draws on her extensive knowledge to guarantee the best care and patient experience for everyone who walks through her practice.

Dr. Hudson took over Middle TN Eye Associates after training at Vanderbilt, Emory, and Harvard.  The practice is celebrating its 18th anniversary this year.  During this tenure, Dr. Hudson has overseen tremendous growth for the practice and assembled a fantastic staff, including new optometrists: Dr. Pamela Cosgrove and Dr. Kelly Martin.  While they may be new to Middle TN Eye, they bring a combined 50 years of experience to the practice.

Dr. Hudson has built an extensive refractive practice with LASIK and multifocal cataract surgery, making patients independent of contacts or glasses — some for the first time!  Middle TN Eye also offers cosmetic services, including Botox, Juvederm, wellness, and eyelid surgery. Dr. Hudson has also partnered with Vanderbilt retinal specialist Dr. Avni Finn to treat all types of retinal issues, including age-related macular degeneration and diabetes, among other things.

With an eye on the future and the desire to continue providing cutting-edge care, Dr. Hudson and the team are expanding their current location. Look for a ribbon-cutting ceremony later this year.

Dr. Hudson is married to her high school sweetheart, Phillip, who runs his business in Carthage, Cumberland Supply.  They stay busy with their children:  Cece, Bear, and Darby.

Beyond her family and work, Dr. Hudson has a passion for her community, the arts, and animals.  Her love for the arts and the community is evident in the fun mural she recently commissioned by Chattanooga artist Olivia Reckert. The mural can be seen at her practice on Veteran's Drive.  She also collects beautiful pieces from local artists, including Melinda Poston, Molly Gleason, and Chris Trella Koczwara.  Dr. Hudson is also a devoted attendee of the Fur Ball, an annual fundraiser for the local animal shelter, and the Pink Gala, a yearly fundraiser for breast cancer.  Dr. Hudson also loves Halloweenn (a lot)! Just drive by her 'haunted house' during the Halloween season, and you will understand.
